This simple hack gives you perfectly level cake layers! No trimming domey cakes! There is also no need to trim the sides of your cake ever again. This trick keeps the oven moist and prevents the edges of your cakes from baking too quickly. Your level cake layers will have a beautifully moist crumb from edge to center :) Yay!
My top secret tips for baking exceptionally PERFECT cupcakes every time! Error-free cupcakes are already a massive achievement, but over time I’ve discovered methods (some normal and some quite unorthodox) that have significantly improved the texture and quality of my cupcakes, taking them from good to perfect.
Nothing is quite a perfect as a perfect cupcake :) My journey with baking perfect cupcakes has been intense. It really came down to baking cupcakes 1000 times over to figure everything out. Please note that my methods are focused on appearance AND flavour. If you can perfect both of these, then (and only then) can it be called a “perfect cupcake”. It doesn’t really help much if the cupcake looks perfect, but it’s not moist and incredibly yummy!
Fortunately I have been baking full-time for 4 years now. Supplying for coffee shops has placed me in a position where I bake the same goods over and over and over again. All my decisions for ingredients and methods are based on optimum FLAVOUR. My recipes are not the "quick fix, 3 ingredients, done in 5 minutes" kind. The methods are extensive, but the results are totally worth it! I strive for beautiful flavour and balance, not just a shot of sugar.
